Transition and Employment Specialist, M.Ed., CESP
When students with disabilities want to live independently and have competitive employment, it is not uncommon to have confusion on where to begin. My passion for assisting them gain employment skills while exploring a variety of vocational options drives my work. I help
students to self-advocate, learn soft skills, executive functioning and other pre-employment skills so they can have confidence in their work place abilities.
This takes a wide-range approach and understanding of the students with disabilities. I have been trained and educated for best practices in the workforce development for students with disabilities. I owned a small business for 15 years and employed numerous people. I am versed in vocational assessments to know the students aptitudes, interests, and skills through working with Fairfax County Public Schools. Building relationships with businesses for work exploration,
internships, and competitive employment is another strength.
Finally, I have my MEd in Special Education Transition and also the Certified Employment Support Professional certification.
My educational background includes a MEd from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. I have a B.A. in Education from Concordia University in Portland, Oregon. and a B.A. in History from the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon.
